BeChangeMaker Begins a New Chapter with YMCA Europe

Following a decade of development under WorldSkills International, BeChangeMaker enters its next chapter with YMCA Europe taking on stewardship of the global programme.

WorldSkills International announced on 29 October that it was entrusting BeChangeMaker to YMCA Europe. The handover follows the programme’s tenth edition, which received 700 applications from 77 countries and regions in 2026.

Since its launch in 2017, BeChangeMaker has supported young entrepreneurs to develop ideas addressing social and environmental challenges. More than 300 young people have received coaching, mentoring and support through the programme, while thousands more have used its tools and guidance.

YMCA Europe will build on this foundation while maintaining BeChangeMaker’s global competition and mentoring at its core. The next chapter will also explore how young people can begin their entrepreneurial journey closer to home, including through YMCA centres, schools and local communities. Plans to keep past participants connected through an alumni network are also part of this longer-term vision.

David Hoey, CEO of WorldSkills International, said:

“For 10 years, BeChangeMaker has shown what young people can achieve when they are given the skills and confidence to solve the challenges they see around them. After a decade of growth, it is now the right time to entrust BeChangeMaker to YMCA Europe, whose reach will carry the programme further, to more young people in more places.”

BeChangeMaker was developed by WorldSkills International and the HP Foundation, with support from UNESCO-UNEVOC and other partners. YMCA Europe looks forward to working with existing partners and others who share the programme’s purpose as this next chapter takes shape.
